Snowy Day

Yes, you read it right...the title of today is "Snowy Day". Not that we had a lot of it, but it DID actually snow. The funny thing is - the week we left for Kazakhstan the weather was still consistantly 85-91 degrees! Therefore we packed for hot weather. . . . . . Of course, the day we arrived in Astana was the day summer ended and autumn started. Therefore we shopped for a light jacket for Suzy. . . . . . Of course TODAY autumn ended and winter started, with light snow and a Siberian chill in the air threatening more. Therefore we shopped for boots for Suzy and a coat for Jon. . . . . although Suzy is eyeing those Russian furs and maybe a fur hat for Jon....? Let's hope it warms up or we may have a new winter wardrobe to bring home.

When we arrived at the orphanage today, the music teacher was in the room with Tommy and Nadia and Anna.
Tommy and Nadia sang us a song and then performed a dance for us. . . . .with accordian accompaniment!

Today was a great day in that it was our first day that we were able to spend time with some of the other children. Until now we (as in the Kembles and us) have spent our time at the orphanage separate from the others. This has been important for bonding purposes, but now since we only had 6 more days in the orphanage we requested that we have time to spend with the other children as well. Permission was granted ( at least for today ) and the following will be shots of some of the precious children we met in Tommy's group today. They are all SO completely lovable ...... and they all want their own mamas and papas......

Tommy's group lining up for what I believe is their physical excercise time. They started with some marching (totally cute!), did some tiptoeing (even cuter!), some tricky balancing (and weren't they proud!)......

.... and ended with some circling ! Plus much more...YOU KNOW I (Suzy) was dying to jump in and join them.....but they were all so excited and proud to have Tommy's Mama and Papa watch....I restrained myself. :)

Jon with a little boy that couldn't stop smiling at Suzy.

The little accordian man.

This little girl has a darling smile, but always got serious for the camera.

This handsome little boy always has a twinkle in his eyes.

Another Kazak beauty.......with another dazzling smile.

Most of these children are available for adoption.....just waiting for the day their mama and papa come.

Pakka .......with love from Kazakhstan.
