A Tour of the Orphanage

Here is the AkKol Orphanage.....home to many adorable and precious little boys and girls.

This place is so wonderful.....really it is. The Kazakhstan orphanages are known for the excellant care they give to their children. They may not have much, but they do the most with what they have here for the orphans. The place is so clean and tidy and cheerful. The children are loved and wonderfully cared for. And yet, as one caregiver told me...they can give the children the best care and lots of love, but they will never be able to give the children what they really need....the love and support of a family.

Here is a view from the garden and playyard. It's easy to love this place.

One of the coatrooms. Notice the paintings....this building is full of colorful and cheerful paintings......all for the children.

Here Tommy's group is in the music room having a music lessons.
You should hear them sing.

Tommy washing his hands in one of the bathrooms.
Happy boy.

A look into Tommy's classroom at their toys. We haven't seen the children argue yet over the toys.
These children are so well-behaved and generous with what they have.

Lunchtime! ......in the cafeteria. What more can I say?

Even the stairwells are cheerful.......

Tommy 's bed ..... alongside the other little beds ....but where will Snow White sleep?

A view from the orphanage of the beautiful garden and playyard. The children help with taking care of the garden.

Just one of the happy paintings outside......

And just some of the sweet children of Kazakhstan.

Blessings to the children of Kazakhstan.

Can't close this day without a look into today's visit with Tommy and the girls.....

Tommy and the girls having their first English lesson.
We played a game where we looked at a picture of an object, they told us the Russian word for it and then we told them the English word for it. Then they tried to repeat it in English. You should hear them say the words......all with beautiful rolling R's.....too cute !!! Everytime they said a word in English they won an M&M........We played through 3 1/2 bags of M&M's before they got tired of the game.

Papa giving Tommy his first electronics lesson.....the CD player and cell phone all at one time. This boy loves pushing buttons. I think he'll need a few more lessons though before he takes over the sound board on Sundays....we'll see.

Pakka! Da Zaftra!!
